“Often when you think you're at the end of something, you're at the beginning of something else.”
Fred Rogers

Anna Tivade, LCSW

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of The Centered Path, a practice dedicated to working with individuals, couples, and families through a systems-oriented lens, with a long-term focus on strengthening individual and family functioning and overall wellbeing across generations.

I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from New Jersey City University and my Master of Social Work from Rutgers University. My clinical foundation is grounded in systems thinking, with advanced post-graduate training in Bowen Family Systems through Rutgers.

I take a holistic view of wellbeing, recognizing the deep interconnection between emotional life, physical health, and the broader relational and social systems we live within. My work is informed by perspectives that highlight how chronic stress, emotional strain, and relational patterns shape both mental and physical health over time.

In addition to psychotherapy, I offer discernment counseling for couples facing uncertainty about the future of their relationship, parenting education to support effective family leadership, and divorce mediation as an alternative to adversarial legal processes. These services reflect a unified philosophy centered on clarity, responsibility, and minimizing unnecessary harm during times of transition.

In 2011, I founded Parental Alienation Support & Awareness New Jersey (PASA-NJ), a long-standing peer support and education initiative created to address gaps in resources for families experiencing high-conflict divorce dynamics and relational rupture. This work played a significant role in shaping my commitment to systems-based approaches and intergenerational family health.

The mission of The Centered Path is to support thoughtful growth at both the individual and family level, grounded in the belief that healthier functioning people contribute over time to healthier families, communities, and a healthier world.

Outside of my professional work, I am a wife and a mother to a large family and place great value on time with them. I enjoy learning and writing, spiritual growth, time in nature, long intentional walks, kayaking, live music, and the freedom of spontaneous adventure. I am also deeply committed to human rights and environmental stewardship.
